Senator Alston may be the Minister for Information Technology, but he doesn’t even understand how web sites work.
In a lame attempt to score a cheap political point, Senator Alston tried to attack me in the Senate today on the grounds that my web site contains all my speeches and media releases dating back to 1997.
Senator Alston’s attack demonstrates his complete lack of understanding of a key component of his portfolio – the internet, because his own website contains every media release he has issued since January 1997, and all of his speeches since September 1997!
Minister, this is called archiving. It occurs when you store files that serve as a record of things you’ve said and done.
Minister, we know you’re a Luddite who doesn’t understand modern technology like the internet and web sites, but next time you try to score a cheap political point, perhaps you should get someone to first explain to you how a web site is managed.
For the record, I was the first federal politician to create their own web site and I continue to personally manage and mark-up my web site.
