A recent survey of Gungahlin residents has found that of the residents using dial-up internet, 85 percent wanted broadband but were unable to get it.
Of the 182 respondents, 28 percent of residents have tried to get broadband but were unsuccessful, and 21 percent are on waiting lists.
Many residents reported that they have been waiting for more than six months.
A staggering 57 percent of respondents said that they would not purchase a new residence in the area without a guarantee of a future-proof broadband connection.
This shows that the community is way ahead of the out-of-touch Howard Government on the necessity of broadband in the 21st century.
That’s why a future federal Labor Government will ensure genuine, affordable broadband for all Australians.
