Senator for the ACT, Kate Lundy today congratulated the Australian National University and the University of Canberra for receiving $1,772,238 to fund nine world-class research projects from the Australian Government.
Funding for these projects comes from the Australian Research Councils (ARC) Linkage Project scheme.
The scheme supports research and development projects between universities and other organisations, including industry, to solve national and global problems.
“This announcement is great news for Canberra Universities, ANU and UC, and for Australian innovation generally,” Senator Lundy said.

“Partner organisations for each project must match the grant amount in cash and/or in-kind support. This means that the total amount for these 9 projects is at least $3.4 million,” Senator Lundy said.
“This kind of research partnership between universities, industry and governments plays a critical role in building a stronger innovation system.
“A strong innovation system is crucial in helping Australia emerge from the global recession stronger and more prosperous.”
A total of 238 projects will receive over $71.3 million in funding under Round 2 of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Projects scheme. These projects will involve partnerships with 554 governments, private and non-profit organisations.
