Kate Lundy, Senator for the ACT has welcomed Australian Government funding of $231,593 to Communities@Work to improve teaching and learning across the community education and training sector in Canberra.
Senator Lundy said the funding will refurbish and equip a new training room to allow disabled access and upgrade an existing meeting room to enhance the learning environment for students and community organisations that use the facilities.
“I congratulate Communities@Work for their successful application. This funding will increase the capacity of the local training sector to meet future skills needs,” Senator Lundy said.
The funding is one of three elements of the Investing in Community Education and Training element of the $500 million Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Vocational Education and Training.
Senator Lundy said the Government announced the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund in December 2008 as part of a $4.7 billion nation building infrastructure package to support Australia’s economy.
