The Road is for everyone, let’s share it.
OFFICIAL LAUNCH
10:00 am Saturday 24th October 2009
Motorcyclists from all over the ACT and region will gather in Ainslie Place on the 24th of October for the launch of the ACT’s Motorcycle Awareness Week.
Senator for the ACT Kate Lundy will officially open the week at a ceremony in Ainslie Place (in front of the Canberra Centre) on the 24th.
Motorcycles and scooters are easy on fuel and space, but they can be easy to miss if you are just looking for bigger vehicles. Everyone can help riders be safe by just being a little more aware of what is around them.
Several key awareness events through the week will help remind both motorcyclists and drivers to look out for each other:
- Launch of the new ACT Motorcyclists Handbook and
- “Where’s Joe Rider” – a competition will help you spot a rider.
- Barbeques and a breakfast will offer an opportunity to meet motorcyclists and
- “Where’s Joe”
- The week will culminate on the 31st with Bike Fest 09 at the Sutton Road driver training establishment. This is a community event where everyone is welcome with entertainment and activities for all the family
BBQ at Black Mountain Peninsula commencing 11:00am and a static display inside the Canberra Centre after the launch.
Organised by motorcyclists for motorcyclists.
Authorised by the Motorcycle Awareness Committee.
