Questacon wins ACT Tourism Award

Senator for the ACT, Kate Lundy has congratulated Questacon- The National Science and technology Centre, on winning the award for the Best ACT Tourist Attraction at the Canberra and Capital Region Tourism Awards last night.

“This is the fifth successive year that Questacon has won this award, cementing Questacon’s status as a top quality attraction for national and international guests,” Senator Lundy said.

The centre’s popularity continues to grow, with a record 419,153 people through the doors in 2008-09, and a further 230,000 accessing the centre’s activities through its outreach programs.

The Australian Government provided $11.3 million for Questacon to strengthen and further improve its science and education facilities as part of the Super Science Initiative in the May Federal Budget.

“I would like to congratulate Questacon and wish them luck for the Best Tourist Attraction Award announced in Hobart in February 2010,” Senator Lundy said.
