Front bench position in return for ETS back flip??

“What is going on in the Liberal Party where power and influence and control of the party means more than policy in climate change one of the greatest moral challenges as well as political and economic challenges of the 21st century,” Senator Lundy said.

Liberal Senator for the ACT, Gary Humphries is going to serve on Tony Abbott’s frontbench as a Shadow Parliamentary Secretary.

Does this explain his recent back flip on the ETS and the Canberra community?

Morning Radio[1] last Friday asked Senator Humphries “So why didn’t you support your colleagues…who had the backbone to still stand up for what they believed in and walked across the floor and voted with the government?”

Senator Humphries responded “I went to speak to Tony Abbott after the ballot and I said I can’t support a policy or a leader who says he doesn’t believe in action on Climate Change….

“I then gave him a letter in which I asked him to meet a number of commitments in relation to the development of that policy. I said if you can do that I will be able to support party policy.”

When questioned on those five commitments, Senator Humphries replied “He (Tony Abbott) asked me not to publish those at this stage.”

Why?

“Because he hasn’t formed a Shadow Cabinet yet.”

Was one of these commitments a feat on the front bench?
