Thanks for the reply, it's good to see Kate's office is keeping an eye on the filtering.

I am somewhat worried that the report isn't even available internally in the ALP though, given there's word that non-government organisations are getting personal briefings already.

Conroy is fast eroding my trust in the current government with the games he seems to be playing.

Hi Amy,

Basically the Realising our Broadband Future was about building good case studies and understanding about future uses of and business models for high speed bandwidth. The filtering concern was brought up by a few participants, however it was clear that it wasn't the right forum for that discussion, particularly given the report hasn't been released yet. As it was the forum had fantastic input from all around the country on different use cases and business models and the outcomes were extremely good.

We understand the concerns, however at this stage we all need to wait for the outcomes of the report. The mentions and voting on the open to ideas page was certainly noticed.

Cheers,
Pia Waugh

Hi Kate,

When you make further blog entries on the forum, could you give us a big of an insight as to why, despite apparently being a key election promise for the Labor party, its commitment to implement a mandatory ISP-level internet filtering scheme was not mentioned? Surely this would have been an appropriate time for Senator Conroy to announce the results of the live trials of ISP-level filtering conducted several months ago. Indeed, I find the silence on the issue even more odd in light of the implications it has for the NBN, and that concerns regarding it topped, by a substantial margin, several categories of the ‘Open to Ideas’ page. Has the policy been shelved?
