The ACT Branch of the Vietnam Veterans Federation will receive $7046 in funding from the Australian Government to support the health and wellbeing of the local ex-service community.
Senator for the ACT Kate Lundy today welcomed the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Alan Griffin’s approval of the funding as part of the Australian Government’s Veteran and Community Grants Program.
Projects funded through the grants program include initiatives that encourage veterans, war widows and widowers to learn new life skills to help them remain independent, as well as social activities and support for carers.
“I thank the ACT Vietnam Veterans Federation on their continued contribution to the ACT community and congratulate them on receiving a grant, which will contribute to the purchase of a new surface grinder machine for their metal workshop,” Senator Lundy said.
Veteran and Community Grants are available to ex-service and community organization, veteran representative groups and private organizations that contribute to the health and welfare of the veteran community.
