Senator Kate Lundy has welcomed the announcement by the Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Mark Butler of $250,000 in Community Awareness Grants for organisations helping Australians to discover, decide and discuss organ and tissue donation.
The Community Awareness Grants program is administered by the Australian Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation Authority established in January 2009 as part of the Rudd Government’s National Reform Agenda to increase organ and tissue donation rates.
The funding will support awareness-raising activities during Australian Organ Donor Awareness Week 2010, from 21 February to 28 February, along with other community-focused events throughout the year.
ACT recipients for Australian Organ Donor Awareness Week 2010 include the Gift of Life’s Terry Connolly ORGANised Walk and ACT Chief Minister’s Organ Donation Awards.
