Kate Lundy, Senator for the ACT was invited to Hannover Germany to keynote at the world’s largest ICT event, CeBIT, and her talk will be streamed live over the Internet at 9:30pm today Canberra time.
“Connected Worlds” is the main topic at CeBIT 2010, and Senator Lundy will be speaking about how the Australian Government has set the scene through policies such as the National Broadband Network, the Digital Education Revolution, Powering Ideas research agenda and the FoI reforms to put ICT at the heart of social and economic growth.
She will also discuss the Australian Gov 2.0 Taskforce report (launched December last year) which is a practical blueprint for a more transparent, participatory and open government. The Senator will discuss the important of open data, citizen-centric services and the collaboration of government with citizens to co-design the government of the future.
The Senator will cover important changes to ICT procurement in the Australian government, and some of the opportunities and challenges facing the industry today.
“Keynoting at CeBIT is a wonderful opportunity to talk about the exciting work happening in Australia, and to learn about what is happening overseas. I am very excited to be here and to also see Australian innovation being showcased through the likes of NICTA” the Senator said, upon arriving in Hannover.
She extends her thanks to Hannover Fairs Australia for continuing to ensure Australia is well represented at such important international ICT events.
Last year the Senator was voted 13 out of 25 for the international “Top 10 Who Are Changing the World of Internet and Politics” award, coordinated by PoliticsOnline and the World eDemocracy Forum, narrowly missing out being placed in the top 10.
