The Rudd Government today announced $700,000 funding for Anglicare under the Get Communities Working stream of the Australian Government’s Jobs Fund.
It is one of 32 Get Communities Working projects to share in $21.5 million in Round 2 to link disadvantaged job seekers with training and employment opportunities.
The funding will establish a ‘Triple R Depot’ retail outlet around the principle of Restore, Restart, Recycle in Canberra creating and supporting 48 jobs and 20 work experience positions.
The retail outlet in Canberra will focus on employment and training opportunities as well as social support for the long term unemployed, homeless and disadvantaged youth within the ACT region.
Projects like this will support and create jobs in the Canberra community, while providing much needed assistance to some of the most disadvantaged Australians.
The Jobs Fund projects will see a further 1033 jobs created or retained, in addition to 247 traineeship and apprenticeship positions and 838 work experience placements Australia wide.
