“The Prime Minister’s team boasts an impressive array of abilities with the side featuring a great combination of new talent and experience,” Senator Lundy said.

“I’m sure the players will bowl us away in this high profile fixture.”

Senator Lundy was joined by chairman of Cricket ACT Ian McNamee to announce the 12-man squad for the 2013 Prime Minister’s XI:

ACT Senator Lundy said the Prime Minister’s XI was a highlight of Canberra’s sporting calendar and cricket fans were eagerly awaiting the game.

“We’ve had an exciting summer of cricket already and with the calibre of players in Prime Minister’s XI line-up it’s sure to be an impressive game for spectators to watch,” Senator Lundy said.

“The Prime Minister’s XI is a wonderful opportunity for Australia’s future cricket stars to play with cricket legends and test their skills against the world’s best.

“Thanks to a $2.5million dollar investment from the Gillard Labor Government to install new lights at Manuka Oval the match will be played into the evening for the first time in its history since the event started in 1951.

“It’s fantastic that in our centenary year Canberrans will be able to enjoy the Prime Minister’s XI under the lights and in a modern sporting stadium.”

Senator Lundy wished the team the best of luck and encouraged everyone to purchase a ticket and head down to Manuka Oval on 29 January to enjoy a great experience.
