ComSuper & Defence Pension

This is about the ongoing campaign for fairer indexation for ComSuper and Defence force pensions. The issue affects almost 350,000 senior Australians whose average pension is less than the married rate of Age Pension of just under $25,000. These are senior Australians living in every State and Territory.

Please see the full background of this issue on our Campaign background for Pension Index post.

We will be posting updates to this campaign here, so please subscribe to the campaign news feed, and contribute to the comments of any posts of interest so we can see your feedback and respond.

If you have a general letter to send, please email it to us at constance.larmour at aph.gov.au and we would like to publish letters received online to help the campaign move forward, so please let us know if you don’t want your letter published.

We look forward to your ongoing support in helping drive this issue forward.

There will be indisputable clawback of approximately 40% due to increased income tax and GST collections and a reduction in Age Pension expenditure. Due to their low superannuation [...]

The Matthews Report

On 26 June 2008 the Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law,  Senator the Hon Nick Sherry, announced the implementation of the 2007 ALP election commitment to review the indexation arrangements for Australian Government superannuation pensions.
This review was necessary because the Howard Government and the Department of Finance would not make available relevant actuarial costings.
The review [...]
