Petition

This petition was launched in response to the anger Canberrans are feeling over the way the Coalition Government has treated the people of the ACT and the surrounding region. I hope to deliver the petition to the Senate in November 1997. The petition reads as follows.

To the Honourable the President and Members of the Senate in Parliament assembled:

We the undersigned wish to bring to the attention of all Honourable Senators the importance of the ACT as the national capital and as home to more than 300 000 people and for Senators to note the devastating effect the Howard Liberal Government Policies are having on the region.

We the petitioners call upon the Senate to ensure that the Prime Minister and fellow Ministers take immediate action in implementing policies that will secure Canberra's economic and social future and to assist Canberra families that are suffering as a result of short sighted Government decisions.
